Oracle 11g New Features in Brief.


  1. Simplified and improved automatic memory management
  2. Invisible Indexes
  3. Virtual columns.
  4. Tablespace-level encryption
  5. LOB’s - New high-performance LOB features.
  6. Ability to online redefine tables that have materialized view logs.
  7. diagnostic_dest parameter for all log files.
  8. The new memory_target and memory_max_target parameters.
  9. New fault diagnosability infrastructure to prevent, detect, diagnose, and help resolve critical database errors 
  10. Enhanced security for password-based authentication by enabling use of mixed case in passwords.
  11. Incident Packaging Service (IPS) – This wraps up all information about an incident, requests further tests and information if necessary, and allows you to send the whole package to Oracle Support.
  12. Automatic Diagnostic Repository (ADR) – When critical errors are detected, they automatically create an “incident”. Information relating to the incident is automatically captured, the DBA is notified and certain health checks are run automatically. This information can be packaged to be sent to Oracle support.
